The poet just stands there, watchin’ life drag itself by Tryin’ to squeeze a rhyme out of what’s makin’ him cry He steals from your mouth; he steals from your eyes Takes what’s dull and dirty, and pours you some wine He listens like a safe crack for the tumblers to slot When he gets it just right, the cage door unlocks
And he goes flyin’ Where no one can find him Where nothin’ can hurt him He goes flyin’
He makes it all up, but somehow he makes you believe Exactly how he wants it, that’s how it’s gonna read He don’t like the feel of his feet on the ground Says maybe that’s why his world’s upside down With a point on his pencil he’s got control His well- muscled body no prison can hold
He goes flyin’ Right out the window, Over the roof tops He goes flyin’
La.la, la la la, la la, la la la, la la La.la, la la la, la la, la la la ,la la In between verses, he scared he’s gone dry Run out of adjectives to describe The curl of her lip, the crimp of her eye He sits in his cell until the next time
He goes flyin’ Where no one can find him Where nothin’ can hurt him
He goes flyin’ Right out the window, Over the roof top
He goes flyin’ Where nobody’s leavin’ Where nobody’s hurtin’ Where nobody’s dyin’
He goes flyin’ He goes flyin’ He goes flyin’
La.la, la la la, la la, la la la,la la La.la, la la la, la la, la la la,la la La.la, la la la, la la, la la la,la la La.la, la la la, la la, la la la,la la
