I stand upon the scaffold The belfry chimes its tune of woe As I’m waiting to deliver Mercy in the name of God I’m like the Guardian of Eden No One might trespass where I stand Those who have lost their right of passage I justify with bloody hand
Following the Lord’s example They give their lives, their sins to purge And as their blood is running freely Their purified souls will leave this earth
Refrain: And as I raise the blade Redeemed thy martyred soul shall be Bow down to me O Sole Deo Gloria
Master of the High Arts, the Taker of Lives He who’s wielding the sword, rightly feared and despised Wretched souls or high nobility They finally bow their heads to me
As soon the crimson fountain flows One more souls ascends to heaven
Now read the words inscribed Upon the faithful sword I wield And find your peace O Sole Deo Gloria
And as I raise the blade Redeemed thy martyred soul shall be Bow down to me O Sole Deo Gloria
Thine lips will kiss the sand Rejoice as sin’s repelled from thee Eternally O Sole Deo Gloria
The Sinner’s Belfry chimes The glorious procession Making way through the crowd The culprit gazes One last time towards the careless sky Sorrowful in his final hour
Now deliver your life upon this altar Our Saviours arms are opened wide Do not fear the strike of justice As steel and mortal flesh unite
In the blink of an eye A life of sin passes by I fulfill the will of Heaven And our Saviour mildly smiles
And as I raise the blade Redeemed thy martyred soul shall be Bow down to me O Sole Deo Gloria
Thine lips will kiss the sand Rejoice as sin’s repelled from thee Eternally O Sole Deo Gloria
