Tales From The Couch
just the other mornin I got up early
shaved my arms and called my sister shirley
when a thought provoked me & ran upstairs
it was the weirdest thing I ever seen
everyone was lookin as I chased it down the street
in my bright red pyjamas (with the bunny feet)
man I was scared clawin for air
but that was the only suit I had that was clean
can you see why I’m gone
the sky was much too orange
will it still be without me to pin it on
am I right that I was wrong
I’ve stayed here much too long
will it still fall without me to fall upon?
baby bottle fell hell I let the dog lick it
now it’s buried in the back & I’m sittin naked
on the couch with the pizza stain
and the rains just comin down inside
it’s different out here than people seem to think
I was just sittin round the kitchen watchin the kitchen sink
while underneath the table these vicious little demons
were chewin me up inside
(chorus)
people in the dark without a television
tellin me they smell the smell of supervision
when the ground breaks open it don’t matter
who’s got their handkerchief, son
grabbed a paper bag tryin to save my face
as I was talkin to the chinese about the hunan race
they were sendin me lemons & pilgrims for my trip
all lemons & pilgrims and it was so out
everything was upside-down
can you see why I’m gone
the sky was much too orange
will it still be without me to pin it on
am I right that I was wrong
I stayed in bed too long
will it still fall without me to fall upon?
