Both Sides of the Story

You've got to be thankful
and live each day as if it was your last
No matter the world outside, you should have a blast

You open the door
And your dog is waiting for you
A lick and a bark
so you throw a bone and play

You take off your shoes
Then, you turn on the record player
Your favorite song makes you wonder about your day

You sit on the couch
Drinking a glass of wine
But something is missing; there is no doubt about it
And that's when you feel
Inspired by her perfume
Making your dreams seem real

You've got to be thankful and live each day
as if it was your last
No matter the world outside, you should have a blast

You go downstairs
The birds are singing through the air
The smell of coffee brings your morning smile

You put your favorite record on
That's important, 'cause as they say
"Music can save lives and brighten your day"

Your dog starts licking
You just keep singing
The melody grows and finally goes upstairs
Before you leave
You make her breakfast
And just wait for a kiss

It's time to try and make a better place to live
See the beauty of things
and be no stranger to love
