The Deadlights

I don't get the logic
If there's any at all
So much proof on one side
Yet the battle lingers on
For crying out loud

We needed it then
Now the reign has ended
(Overstayed your welcome
don't stay another second)
Shoot the gift horse in the mouth
Bring the blackout

Oh, gas without a spark
It won't be long 'til it starts to ignite
Secrets far and wide
Will burst into flames right in front of our eyes
Oh, Is my soul safe
Or did I sell it to the wrong side of the fence?
Did they say what they meant?
It makes no sense

The center of the universe
Waiting to intervene
Hopeful thoughts with mixed intentions
Hunting the naïve
It's a rusted cog and chain response
Slowing down the truth
I have busted free from there and now
I beg you to follow suit
Young shame makes old wisdom
May explain why I'm so dumbfounded
By your decisions & progression is so slow
(We needed it then, devoted.)

Oh, gas without a spark
It won't be long 'til it starts to ignite
Secrets far and wide
Will burst into flames right in front of our eyes
Oh, Is my soul safe
Or did I sell it to the wrong side of the fence?
Did they say what they meant?
It makes no sense

There's so much tension in the room
It's boiling up my blood
The spirits start to loom
I can hear my heart thud
I saw a light shine through the awning
& With a crooked tune
They told me to stop calling
& It's ruined my mood

I don't feel a thing
Except the skull in which brain spins
& Then I howled at the moon
But I think I spoke too soon
I spoke too soon
If I killed myself today
Would my death be a sin?
Words with the sole purpose of
Attracting flies to a bin
Even if I found out
I had only seconds left
My last breathe of air
wouldn't be wasted on a prayer

Shoot the gift horse in the mouth
Bring the blackout
