Angelic Conversation
Sympathy for the Devils
Disguised in velvet

Gazing at the soaring elegance
Bacchus bless the hell of ants
Walk in the garden of noon
Step on and crush the snake and strawberry*
Interested and Ha...

Weaving the heavens above the steel sky, Fall in Angel
MELODY ascending on high
Burning your wings in the light
Breaking away from the swarm of filmy-winged mayflies
Waving your deep crimson resolve
Under the sun OH Alone

Breaking away from the swarm of filmy-winged mayflies
Waving your deep crimson resolve
Under the sun OH Alone

Eating your dreams apart, ride the serpent and hunt for glory**
MELODY bursting your eyes
DRAGON AND BOY mingle together in the ocean
Wrap the wind of ancient times around your neck
Wonderfully dishevel your hair
Under the sun OH Alone

*I assume that this line is a reference to the story of Adam and Eve, and that the “snake and strawberry” refer to the serpent and the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. It’s likely that Imai picked a strawberry as the fruit because strawberries are symbols of puberty in Japan. This is because “ichigo,” the word for “strawberry,” can also mean “one five,” or “fifteen,” which is an age at which many people are undergoing puberty and sexual awakening, dealing with adult thoughts, and losing innocence. Since eating the fruit caused Adam and Eve to lose their innocence, the strawberry symbol here is only fitting.

**The word in this line that I translated as “glory” is “baku” in Japanese. It can have many meanings, but it’s usually spelled in kanji, and Imai spelled it in katakana here, which makes me think he intended it to have a double meaning. In katakana, BUCK-TICK is spelled “baku-chiku,” so he might be making a joke and referring to the band. Maybe he’s saying they’re hunting for glory, or maybe he’s making fun of the fans.
