Duas semanas antes de dar início a série de shows em celebração ao álbum "Achtung Baby" (1991) em Las Vegas, o U2, usou novamente a cidade como cenário de um clipe. Na mesma Fremont Street onde, 36 anos atrás, eles gravaram o vídeo de "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, eles mostraram a nova "Atomic City" em uma performance surpresa realizada no sábado (16).
A música, com toques de anos 80 e foco no ritimo, soa como uma das melhores feitas por eles em um bom tempo. O baterista Larry Mullen Jr., que não irá tocar nos próximos shows por ainda estar se recuperando de uma cirurgia na coluna, também estava presente, desmentidno os rumores de que estaria cogitando deixar o grupo que fundou - na temporada em Las Vegas, quem irá substituí-lo será o holandês Bram van den Berg. O shows começam no próximo dia 30.
Em março passado, depois de seis anos sem novidades, o U2 lançou um álbum de regravações, ("Songs Of Surender"), o que aumenta a expectativa por um trabalho de inéditas - nunca, eum uma carreira que já passa das quatro décadas, os irlandeses ficaram tanto tempo sem lançar um disco novo. Se "Atomic City" é uma amostra do que vem por aí, os fãs já podem se animar.
