She only loves horses – she’ll never love me
She’s a child of divorce, yes, says that ain’t what this is
She’s already got somethin’ bigger and stronger
More selfish, more nervous than me
She only loves horses, that’s why we’ll never be

She says she’s got a new man with a grapefruit brain
He’s twelve-hundred pounds and he never complains
His buck and his bite says he loves her a lot
He don’t talk much but she can read his thoughts

I know she ain’t cheatin’ but lord it’s not fair
She’s with a lightning-spooked vegan, braidin’ his hair
Says he’s wild as the prairie, he’s beauty untamed
While I’m home on the couch playin‘ video games

She only loves horses – she’ll never love me
She’s a child of divorce, yes, says that ain’t what this is
She’s already got somethin’ bigger and stronger
More selfish, more nervous than me
She only loves horses, that’s why we’ll never be

He’s a short-clipped stud, he’s a champ at dressage
All I can do is order in and give a foot massage
Her dad’s an accountant, and her mother’s a saint
She’s got the stallion emblazoned on her wall in oil paint
She got fifty bucks and third place at the show
But I bought her three grand of rodeo clothes

She’s takin’ him out, she won‘t answer my calls
She can’t take my shit, but she’s muckin’ his stall
Shoulda known by the novels, and the hair to her rear
Shoulda known by the way that she nibbled my ear
Shoulda known by the rhinestones
and the straight of her spine
I thought leather bridles just meant a good time

She only loves horses – so she’ll never love me
She’s a child of divorce, yes, says that ain’t what this is
I guess she’s already got someone bigger and stronger
More selfish, more nervous than me
She only loves horses, that’s why we’ll never be

She’s already got someone bigger and stronger
More selfish, more nervous than me
She only loves horses, that’s why we’ll never be
She only loves horses…
